How is international shipping from Korea calculated?
Updated
International shipping is charged on chargeable weight: the larger of the parcel's actual weight and its volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is length × width × height in centimetres divided by 6,000. SeoulDrop weighs your parcel in the warehouse and confirms the shipping cost before you pay.
Volumetric weight in practice
A 40 × 30 × 20 cm box has a volumetric weight of 40 × 30 × 20 ÷ 6,000 = 4 kg. If the contents weigh 1.5 kg, you are charged for 4 kg. Bulky, light items such as plush toys, shoes in boxes and padded jackets are the usual surprise.
Ways to reduce chargeable weight
- Combine parcels into one box. Combining up to 3 packages into one box is free; each additional package is $1.50.
- Ask us to remove shoe boxes or outer packaging, or to repack items into a smaller box (optional services; prices on the pricing page).
- For albums, choose inclusions-only if you do not need the full packaging.
- Use the shipping calculator with your expected weight before you buy.
Shipping methods
Available methods depend on the destination and parcel, for example a standard service for the US and some Asian destinations, K-Packet for light parcels up to 2 kg and EMS as the generally faster option. Delivery time varies by destination and customs, so we do not promise delivery dates.
