Do I pay US customs duty on orders from Korea?
Updated
Possibly. CBP guidance published in 2025 says that from August 29, 2025, the former Section 321 de minimis treatment is generally no longer available for imported shipments, including international mail, so duties, taxes and fees may apply. Do not assume an order under $800 is duty-free.
What changed
Low-value parcels used to enter the US duty-free under Section 321 de minimis. CBP's guidance now says that treatment is generally unavailable. Read CBP's own article for the current rules, which can change.
How SeoulDrop handles US parcels
Our current carrier partner advises DDP (delivered duty paid) for US-bound shipments, and the US standard method is listed as DDP. Other destinations and routes may differ. Customs authorities decide clearance; we cannot guarantee its result or timing.
Splitting one order into several parcels to stay under a threshold is not a guarantee and may not be appropriate.
Common questions
Why do you need the declared value?
Customs requires it. Enter the amount you actually paid when you pre-register a parcel.
Do you publish duty-free thresholds for other countries?
No. Rules change, so we do not publish thresholds as current eligibility rules. Check your country's customs authority.
